A family trail – the majority of this ride is road and riverbank pathways with places of interest for every family member. A pleasant ramble along flat terrain, cycling 3 to 14km. Allow 3 to 4 hours.

A very popular Family Trail and Day Light Saving excursion from 3pm to 7pm.

The terrain is flat. Puketapu Loop is 25km  and predominately cycling  pathways (29km if you visit Silky Oak Chocolates).

Check out the cellar doors at  Church Road Winery, Mission Estate Winery and Moana Park Winery. Puketapu Village has the very popular  quaint pub know as The Puketapu Hotel, a great place for lunch or dinner (closed Mon for lunch), Historic Church and Puketapu Park for a ride on the flying fox. If you return via Gloucester Street pop into the Duke of Gloucester Restaurant & Bar for Ale and Cider. On the way to Silky Oak Chocolates you can visit a Pottery, Wood Artists & Nevaria Lavender

This wine growing area is situated West of Hastings, famous for its deep gravely soils laid down by the old Ngaruroro River after the huge flood in the 1860’s. 80% of the land is planted in red grape varieties, the remaining 20% is white grape varieties.

On route you will discover numerous world renowned handcrafted award winning wines at the cellar doors where you will be welcomed by passionate, enthusiastic cellar door staff.

Explore the village of Haumoana on the way to Beach House Wines (Summer Sat & Sun – closed winter)  Elephant Hill Estate Winery, (open 7 days all year)  Clearview Winery (Winter closed Wed Thu)  and Te Awanga Estate (closed winter formally Kim Crawford Wines) – enjoy spectacular  coastal views.  Cycle through the village of Te Awanga to Wool World and Clifton Bay Café at  road end beside the sea. On the way back visit Haumoana Farmyard Zoo and/or the British Car Museum. There are numerous art & craft studios in this area.
