Te Mata Estate Winery is open for wine sales only 7 days - no wine tasting whilst the country is in Red Traffic Light

Highlights
In amongst the rolling country side on the Havelock North boundary you will find several wineries and Arataki Honey Centre to explore.  Wineries include New Zealand’s oldest - Te Mata Estate dating from 1896 to the newest Craggy Range Winery & Restaurant for fine dining. from 1998,  Others are Black Barn & Kitchen, Askerene Vineyard, Gourmet Platters in a  picnic setting and Akarangi Wines 

This wine growing area has a long heritage of quality wines produced from the finest vineyards in the Hawkes Bay,  wineries have been rewarded with there dedication with a string of accolades over the years.

The friendly cellar door teams invite you to sample outstanding fine wines and cuisine, whether it's a picnic  lunch under the trees or a fine dining experience of the very best quality.

Note: You will be well rewarded with the views of the Tuki Tuki river and outlying areas cycling the new pathway to Craggy Range which is elevated on the side of the hill adjacent to the roadway

Back track and join the River Road Riverbank pathway  which follows the majestic Tuki Tuki River on its  way to the sea, also in this area, vineyards, orchards, horticulture and farming.

On arrival at Black Bridge cross the river via the cyclist bridge then make your way to Kidnappers Coast pathway cycling through the estuary, the river on your left.  Take time at the end of this pathway to view Napier in the distance and to  your right.  Kidnappers Coast with its spectacular coastal views  and  white cliffs. Through the village of Haumoana then  enjoy the pathway beside the sea that takes you to the village of Te Awanga,  time to explore Elephant Hill Winery - Gourmet platters, Clearview Winery & Restaurant, Te Awanga Winery - platters and pizza   in  a picnic setting,  A local Pub and  Hygge Cafe, at road end,  lots of   Art & Craft outlets 

Please ensure you book the wineries and lunch venue prior to the days cycling – if you don’t do this there is a possibility of being turned away on the day

Included in your package
Bike About Tours provides top of the range bikes, most bikes are fitted with gel seat covers, handle bar bags, panniers for your wine and other goodies, bike stands, key padlocks for bikes. We supply first aid and puncture repair kits; a detailed map of the Cycle Trail of your choice, helmet or you can bring your own. High visibility vests are not compulsory – we have them in stock if you wish to use one. Note: The majority of our Electric bikes don’t have handle bar bags!
